Well what a crazy end to the week and weekend, with the snow coming thick and fast but that didn’t stop us. Thursday and Friday Ben was helping out to finish set up for the festival, this is the second year we’ve been but the first year that we have been properly involved in helping with this festival with our wonderful festival family at shropshire festivals….so after the girls snow day Friday we woke to a little more snow Saturday morning but not enough to stop us getting out to complete our volunteer duties. The snow looked beautiful in quarry park where winter festival takes place.
Fridays snow fall outside our house
Early wake up Saturday morning and we got the girls organised for their day with grandad and nanny……with all the snow we managed to get out of our estate safely and onto the main roads. With the girls at their grandparents we headed to Shrewsbury as the girls weren’t joining us till late afternoon.
With the snow at ease at least for now we arrived at quarry park ready for our long day…..so many stall holders,so many jobs to get done before the festival opened. Everything looked amazing and with the crisp white snow it only added to the Christmasy vibe and made it all look even more amazing. Before opening the queues were forming and they were ready to have some fun…..
With the gorgeous smells of some amazing street foods and all the amazing stall holders with all their amazing items to sell…..there was even animals(donkies, lambs and alpacas) and a kids craft and inflatables tent….. plus a very Christmasy snow globe complete with snow for you to climb in and take photos inside.
The donkies Arthur and Ely aren’t they just adorable
The lambs and their mama.
And the alpacas…..the girls wanted to take them home🙈
We even had a Rudolph 🤣
With lots to see and do including a giant singalong of some of our favourite Christmas songs and some varied singers throughout the day.
With many fantastic stalls including lots of different local foods to choose from i picked out a few pics as there were so many.
A long with all the fantastic foods there were lots to choose from in regards to drinks included mulled wines, ciders, gins, hot chocolates and coffees
Our wonderful friend Mr Digweed and his amazing homemade monkhide wines
Shrewsbury winter festival is very family oriniated as are all festivals ran by shropshire festivals……A whole tent of free activities for the kids to enjoy which as previously mentioned included giant inflatables.
Also for any fans of Only Fools and Horses and The Green Green Grass will know who this guy is.
The amazing thing with these festivals ran by shropshire festivals is that you meet so many different people and end up making some life long friends. And some of which our wonderful babies have adopted as aunties and uncles 😂😂
Well I’m not sure what more i can say other than the team at shropshire festivals did yet another fantastic job despite the weather being against them. I for one can’t wait for 2018s festivals which include 2kids fests, food festivals and oktober fest and many more. Head over to their website to see what’s coming in 2018.
Thank you for taking the time to read this blog post.
Next one to come soon.
